A 71-year-old man on disability and without family support was told by his landlord that he had 30 days to empty his flooded garage. A man in our congregation, of similar age and with serious health concerns of his own, answered the call. Within days, he met with this stranger in need, assessed the situation, made all the necessary arrangements with a disposal company, targeted a morning above 32 degrees so that the items would not be frozen to the floor, and invited 2 friends from the congregation. On a cold morning in January, the 3 men filled a 2-yard dumpster and a couple of extra bins with all the sodden material from the garage. This stranger will probably never see these helpers again, but through their obedience, the Holy Spirit has gotten an introduction.
